The new EV Detective Kit allows a professional technician to quickly rule out an issue with the charger by simply plugging it into box 1 and looking for the green light to illuminate and sampling the L1, and L2 voltages.  Once the charger is ruled out, they can then plug box 2 into the port on the vehicle and plug the charger into box 2.  This breakout box allows them to test the control pilot’s handshake with the vehicle to allow them to sample the CP, L1, L2, and ground circuitry.
